"The kushtias history"

Walter Hamilton's The East India Gazetteer has the mention of Kustee town and local people called the town Kushte.NOW it is named kushtia. During the British rule Kushtia was not a separate district and was a part of a part West Bengal (Former Nadia district) of undivided India.
Kushtia Municipality was established in 1869. The town is above 20 kilometre. Kushtia was made a Different district, consisting of Kushtia Sador Was the subdivisions Meherpur and Chuadanga.
The Renouned Person of kushtia are Bagha Jatin, Mir Mosharraf Hossain, Rabindranath Tagore, Lalon Fakir ,Kobi Azizur Rahaman,Quamrul Hasan Siddique, the birthplace of historical figuress.
Made the town an alluring location for mills and factories Mohini Mills 1896, Renwick 1904 and Jagneshwar 1919 Company. Kolkata railway connection made in Eighteen sixty.
For the Ganga-Kopotakha Project Kushtia town was Beautiful.Many government offices Were established in 1954. Ganga-Kopotakha irrigation Project was started in 1954. It was the first corp project in Kushtia. The entire project was chairman Moulavi Abdul Bari Biswas.
1971Liberation Kushtia had tremendous contribution for our homeland. Initially Pakistani armed forces captured kushtia police station, ansars, and settled an outpost there, soon they faced a considerable resistance from a group of police, students and local people.But the local people recapture their teretory by heavy fighting.
some development projects were taken in the district Kushtia after the independent of Bangladesh. Islamic versity foundation stone was laid at Shantidanga - Dalulpur in 22-11-1979 districts of Kustia-Jhenidah. In 1990 University was re-shifted its original place santidanga. Meherpur and Chuadanga under the subdivisions of Kushtia were named separate districts 10-4-1984.
